PER Pat O' Brien, PER Donna Vogt, and Esteemed Leading Knight Stephanie Spann lend a hand at "Eden Dreams of Bossa Nova" Charity Ball. This year's event raised over $230,000 to help support Eden’s programs for children, adults, and families. While guests enjoyed dining and dancing, the highlight of the evening was the premiere of a video highlighting Eden’s speech and language department. Attendees learned how Eden Autism's speech and language therapists work with individuals and their families to expand individuals’ ability to communicate, and the opportunities this presents for children and adults with autism to gain independence.
Lodge members were out on September 23rd participating in the NJ Southwest District Special Children’s Committee Ambassador Child Picnic. Thank you to our hosts at Trenton Lodge #105 and the entire District SCC committee for a great special event! Hightstown Elks #1955 initiated 3 new members on Tuesday September 19th, pictured below with ER Ellen Weckenbrock. Special thank yous to our SW District Vice President Terri Haremza, SW District Deputy GER James "Buddy" Miller, & SW District Grand Esquire Hank Elmer for joining us at the meeting and ceremony. Welcome new members Miguel Rivera, Bill Schmicking, & Kevin Afflick - we can't wait to see you at the Lodge for upcoming events and activities!
I take great pleasure in announcing to you all that today we have completed the installation of our new Lodge sign.
This Is the culmination of a two year effort by many members who held dinners, ran events, donated their 'tips', or just put a few bucks in the "Sign Jar" on the bar. Special recognition must be made to Bill Coleman who donated hundreds of items to be sold in support of this project. Without these fundraising efforts and support, this project would never have been accomplished!
I truly believe this new, backlit message sign with the Elks logo will greatly enhance our 'curb appeal' and the recognition of who we are within our community. It will allow us to better disseminate our messages to this community regarding the events we hold to benefit those we strive to help. For these reasons I am so very proud to have had the opportunity to Chair this effort and see it through to its final successful conclusion.
Please 'drive by' some Friday night and check it out and maybe, stop in to say hi to old and new friends.
